This is not leadership. This is a terrible response. Did she try to do an all lives matter? This is a team that has historically spoken up about subjects that matter. Now Emma is saying they play legos instead.

It's my belief that NWSL has to be a well-designed, robust soccer league and a good business, but I also believe that the soccer coming first is the only way to make both things happen in the medium and long term. I don't think the league's leadership/the majority of team owners feel the same way.

Roughly sketching out *how* for Spirit w/a $2M+ annual deal for Rodman in the #NWSL's salary cap: Adjusted 2026 cap is expected to be ~$3.7M per league source. Rodman: $1M HIP, then roughly a $1M+ cap hit. The Spirit also have allocation money that they can use to offset the cap for any player.

Jessica Berman needs to be asked why one of the NWSL's teams released a player on a free to go to a foreign team owned by an NWSL owner.

Two different tiers. San Diego didn’t even get any money for Sheridan or Cascarino. And if the buyouts were the same year it’s going to cost them.

Did they take a really long vacation? It’s been over 50 days. They are lucky they have one of the most experienced assistant coaches in the league. Sarah Lowdon could easily be a head coach. The thorns FO needs to get it together. The thorns used to be one of the elite teams.

It is *something* that Heaps, a starter at Lyonnes, opted to return, but... 1. As @838carlisle.bsky.social said, NWSL is losing stars before/in their prime. Heaps doesn't address that. 2. A return home. It's fortunate for NWSL that Heaps is from Denver, not Albuquerque or Minneapolis or elsewhere.

When I get asked why North American women, Black women, women of color aren’t coaching in the NWSL, I’m just going to send them this quote. The good ol’ boys network in soccer is alive & well in 🇺🇸. That Chris Long is calling Jesse Marsch “looking for a coach” is a symptom of a systemic problem.

A guy who has never worked in women’s football said “this is your guy” and you just go with it is the epitome of cronyism.

A lot is happening with the nwsl but this shouldn’t get lost. The stadium has really shielded the Longs from criticism from questionable decisions. This feels like nwsl 1.0. This league is one step forward two steps back.

Like AT this just seems like an opportunity Coffey wanted. Even if the thorns didn’t have the Karina GM era. She would have still wanted to play in Europe. I think a club doing right by a player and letting her pursue her dream is the right decision. Per ESPN this was her desire.
