As someone who detests capital punishment I do especially hate that we invented the chair to turn murder into a human off switch and injection to turn it into an outpatient medical procedure, all to make murder easier. If it must happen it may as well be violent, not easy.

Firing squad is the most humane method of execution that I know of. I'd rather we not have it at all but if we have to, best to make it as humane as possible.

To the extent we’re going to have a death penalty, I think it should be viscerally violent so as to avoid any wiggle room about what we’re doing. We should also stop corrupting the medical profession by involving them in lethal injection, which are not actually more humane than firing squads.
