My tabletop rpg hot take is that there's no such thing as a narratively meaningless death. If a player character dies, that ipso facto makes it narratively meaningful. A random orc slew our lvl 5 fighter? Doesn't sound like a random anymore, sounds more like a specific guy who took down our fighter.

I sat down to work on a dungeon this afternoon and whoops, it's been like 4-5 hours, it is almost 8pm and the dungeon has been mapped out. Next time I sit down to work on it I gotta populate it, distribute loot, environmental elements, dungeon dressing and so on... The works. What great fun! 😅😍

Every time I open up Word to work on thesis instead of working on fiction/blog/rpgs, I feel proud of myself as if I wasn't doing the bare minimum of what I should be doing like a normal person 😅

It's so easy to forget that we have actually made some social progress in the past 10-15 years until you have to explain to someone that when you were a teenager, if a man styled his hair or had skintight jeans, let alone if he had a skincare routine, he was "gay" (and this was a terrible offense)

It feels so crazy to me kids are expected, at least in Finland, largely to know as teenagers what they want to do when they grow up. I'm 29 (not a grown up :P) and I have only in the past year or two found my real callings as far as that goes. I know there is still more out there yet to discover.

Every time after a break from ttrpgs I hyperfixate on them after, like at this rate I'm going to have three campaigns I have to get started and that is just not sustainable time or energy wise 😂

Absolutely true. The UK is bad, but is it an outlier in European context? Not really. So much what anti-trans push, right now, in the US is everyday in Europe. Generally the entire sentiment is stupid and so is the reverse. Some things are better in the US and others (in parts of) Europe.

Actually hot take I have: Time has left Diablo II behind. I know for a lot of people saying this is a sacrilege. It had amazing staying power and it took forever for the genre to surpass it, and it'll be remembered as such. However, 2025, there's nothing, for me, other games like it don't do better.

Finally on homeward train to Helsinki, at long last. I have never felt this kind homesickness before and never felt as excited to return home as now. It always used to be a more ambivalent thing to me but moving to Helsinki seems to have changed everything.

Second day of stormy weather and sporadic electricity makes me really appreciate all the devices running on battery like... Nothing changes when electricity goes out, I can just continue what I was doing and it'll be back before any battery runs out. What a time to be alive 😂
