One of our paper from 2016 on the effects of elevated atmospheric CO2 on crops was cited in the DOE report commissioned by the Trump administration, giving misleading conclusions that rising CO2 emissions are beneficial to agriculture.

With the October data in GISTEMP, it is almost certain that 2024 will be a new annual temperature record. Best estimate is for 1.47°C above pre-industrial, but it could be above 1.5°C depending on the this month and next (of course).

With the (belated) September data now in, the updated prediction is that 2024 is almost certain to be a new annual surface temperature record, and possibly by more than 0.1ÂşC. 50% change of exceeding 1.5ÂşC above the late 19th C.
