The Hillsborough Law continues to be delayed despite it being a manifesto promise and the PM personally promising campaigners. A coalition of bereaved families and survivors of state failures have written today to the PM and the Cabinet demanding action. Just get on with it. @cbffjuk.bsky.social

The PM’s failure to reintroduce the Hillsborough Law is an insult. If it had already been in force, the Covid Inquiry could have reached the truth faster, without the Chair having to go to the High Court for full WhatsApp disclosure. The Government must keep its promise.

The Covid Inquiry has published its report into the impact of the pandemic on healthcare systems. Its conclusions are shocking and must lead to change before it is once again too late. 🧵 1/10

At 12pm tomorrow, the Covid Inquiry publishes its report on the pandemic's impact on our health system. Those who left the NHS chronically underfunded and unprepared must be held to account, and the findings must drive urgent action to make the NHS fit for the 21st century.

Matt Hancock claimed the NHS not overwhelmed during pandemic. We as a country were prepared. @drkevinfong exposed that myth. We were so ‘prepared’ that staff even ran out of body bags. #covidinquiry must make recommendations to ensure NHS never left so exposed again. @cbffjuk.bsky.social

The likes of Matt Hancock continue to claim the NHS wasn't overwhelmed during the pandemic. Experts like Dr Kevin Fong exposed that myth during the inquiry hearings. On Thursday, the inquiry must be clear: years of austerity left the NHS overwhelmed and unprepared.

Today marks the final public evidence session of the Covid-19 Inquiry. On Tuesday evening, I was pleased to host a panel event to discuss what Parliament needs to do now with @cbffjuk.bsky.social in the House of Commons.

In her closing statement on behalf of the Covid Bereaved, Anna Morris KC calls on the Inquiry to ensure its work leads to real change. The hundreds of thousands lost to Covid must not have died for nothing. That must be this Inquiry’s legacy.

After years of evidence, the Covid Inquiry hearings end today. The Inquiry will publish 8 reports over the next 2 years that will provide a blueprint for changing this country and saving lives. But that change will only happen if we fight for it.

Almost six years after my father’s avoidable death, I will be giving evidence to the UK Covid Inquiry this afternoon. Retelling what happened to my dad is hard, but not learning from the mistakes that were made is far worse.

More than two years after the first hearings began, today bereaved families give the final witness evidence to the @covidinquiryuk. After the hearing ends at 4.30pm, we will gather outside for a short statement and a moment of silence. Our fight for justice continues.

1/2 Covid Inquiry Module 10 Day 1. Given that the Inquiry decided to exclude the bereaved from Modules 8 and 9, it’s been a while since I posted about the Covid Inquiry. However, we are back here today for Day 1 of Module 10 exploring the impact of the pandemic on society.

On Monday, the final public hearings of the Covid-19 Inquiry begin. Module 10 will examine the impact of the pandemic on society, including bereavement and bereavement support, mental health, and wider experiences across communities. 1/4

We welcome the news that Chris Wormald has resigned. When he was appointed Cabinet Secretary, we warned ministers that many would see it as his failures during the pandemic being brushed aside, or even rewarded. Those concerns were ignored. 1/3
