Trying some shenanigans with a 2D rig "3D rotation". It's about 30 layers dynamically changing layer order over time + lots of vector point motion tweens of the shapes. It's not quite convincing yet but good for a first pass I would say. I want Hivehead performing more actions as the camera "pans".

I wanna share a current musical obsession of mine. Stage 1-1 and 1-2 of Jumping Flash!, and how it goes from cheerful to melancholic in a way very similar to Sonic 3's Angel Island. Here is 1-1. Love the bagpipes and that very low pitched echoy chord that pipes in here and there.

Went to look at adoptable cats today, one of them was a tiny orange and white kitten just like Graham was 17 years ago and it really stung. Getting to hold him felt nice, though. Didn't go home with any, I think I need to wait more.

Making GREAT progress on Afterglow's 3D model! Just a little more weight paint jank to clean up. I've found some promising tutorials on more advanced cel shading/painterly fx that I want to try to apply here too. She is really a test bed for #blender3D techniques.

In Homeward Bound 2, there's a scene where a dog-actor growls and her human actor VO threatens a dog with "Looking to get yourself fixed?!" Then the scene de-escalates. Its pretty nuts (NPI) to realize that the male dog was about to get its balls bitten clean off. Just kids movie stuff.

Afterglow model V2 is looking really good! I haven't even applied proper toon shading yet, the default shaders in Blender just look nice with a grease pencil face. I made each color on her costume be separate geometry, so now I gotta set up the bone weight painting all over again. #blender #b3d

Dove into 3D modeling with Blender and made this in one week! Not done yet but really happy with the point I got to before my vacation ended. I really want to try using Grease Pencil to draw the face on an otherwise blank head, but I don't know if that works on a low poly model.

I got on an Elden Ring kick, but wanted there to be a whole new map to explore so I played Dark Souls 3 instead and am having fun with it. Sometimes it's nice that all these games are the same. You can just do this. I've never played this game before but I already know the attack patterns.
