I think this very specific, very painful experience is far more common than any of us are willing to admit, because so much of it is steeped in misogyny and shame. As young women, we are prized for our innocence, and then shamed for our inexperience.

Whenever I listen to TTPD, I remember that twin-flame relationships are often said to be marked with painful conflict, because the people who remind us most of ourselves also reflect our worst qualities, amplifying and exacerbating every challenge we've ever had in relationships.

Fearing "forever" isn't just about the fear of commitment. It's about fearing the surrender--the intense vulnerability that forever can bring. There is safety in the finite. Forever can finish you.
