Being a dog guy and based on the premise, I was pretty predisposed to like GOOD BOY (2025) but I was so taken with what they’re able to do with so little. The plot may be paper thin but it’s made up for in shot choice, the performance they get out of lead Indy and tension. Good boy! #31daysofhorror

Wee man had his Halloween walk today and went as Ghost Face. Funny to think he’s 8 and so will never have seen any of the actual Scream movies and only knows of it through cultural osmosis and that I was only 6 when it was released. Horror films and icons have such a strange place in the culture

THEY’RE WATCHING (2016) Really liked the premise and execution at the beginning with having a found footage film based on a property show. There was just something missing by the end and the limited special effects are a bit strained at the end. Fun performances from the cast though #31daysofhorror

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (1994) was my next watch for #31daysofhorror I really loved watching the show last year and this has been a blind spot for me. As that’s my only reference, parts did feel condensed but Pitt, Cruise, Banderas and Dunst are great and some of the effects where are really neat

STRANGE HARVEST (2024) is right up my alley. A faux documentary in the style of Netflix/Paramount detailing the crimes of Mr Shiny where things maybe aren’t all they seem. Not a dull moment and a solid send up of those types of films while still being a great horror in its own right #31daysofhorror

SOUTHBOUND (2015). Had this on my list for a bit as I’ve enjoyed a lot of the work of the assembled directors. Like a much more coherent V/H/S and with some really good shorts on their own (The hospital section especially). The lack of details at times might not be for everyone tho #31daysofhorror

IN THE LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM (1988) was a total blast. Trashy but in the best possible way, with plenty of humour, men with unibrows trying to save the day and Amanda Donohoe just being the best vampire/snake demon. A great first time watch for #31daysofhorror

In love with The Chair Company already. Not a moment is wasted and every minor character brings another weird and hilarious thing to the chaos unfolding. This guy for one is just so good.

QUATERMASS AND THE PIT (1967) may have some ropey effects by today’s standards but I found them pretty charming and it’s a great old fashioned spooky story with ghosts, aliens and psychic powers. Absolutely a foundational horror film #31daysofhorror

Define "Perfect Ending"?

Followed straight up with SILENT HILL REVELATION (2012) was a massive let down compared to the first and a horrible adaptation of SH3. Waste of the talent involved and the budget. Maybe just watch the first and forget there’s a sequel. Maybe the third will change things #31daysofhorror

Neighbours have their Halloween decorations up and I genuinely had to double take at Art sitting in a chair at the side of the house. Perfectly creepy.

SILENT HILL (2006) isn’t a perfect adaptation but it is probably one of the best horror movies based on a game we are likely to get. Good atmosphere, thieving the sound design and music is a great choice and a good villain performance at the heart. Shame about Sean Bean accent though #31daysofhorror

Spider-Punk! He was cool this whole time! He was probably my favorite character from the last Spider-Verse. I appreciate a character who surprises you after multiple viewings.

Been wanting to see LITTLE MONSTERS (2019) since the trailer pre-pandemic. Takes a wee bit to get going but once Lupita is on screen, the whole thing elevates. She’s the core of the film with brilliant comic and action timing. Gad also has one of his best roles and kids great too! #31daysofhorror

Latest watch was SOLE SURVIVOR (1984) which I had only recently heard of. It’s got a great opening and the whole thing is just seeped in dread. 100% my kind of vibes and I’m very glad I found it. One for fans of Final Destination / It Follows as it’s basically a prototype of those #31daysofhorror

Saw a post about the Twin Peaks police jeep being in the west end recently, so the pup, the wee man and I all made the pilgrimage out there today to track it down. No luck unfortunately - then the boy hit me with “maybe you’ll see it again in 25 years”. Too sarky for an eight year old.

Rewatched the first half of Over The Garden Wall and still some of the best autumnal spooky vibes going. Especially fun now that the wee man is of age to appreciate it more and you can see those little terror moments actually embedding in his psyche.

Even putting aside the fact that AI can't do this and will never be able to do this Who would *want* this? Who wants a bespoke personal TV show? That they can't meaningfully engage anyone else with? That no human had a hand in crafting? You might as well tell someone about a cool dream you had.
