I still had my glasses on when I looked at my phone and misread a headline as talking about a new data centaur.

Here's a project of mine from many years ago, a Deadmau5 helmet made for a coworker's kid. I'm mainly posting this to show @manningkrull.bsky.social the eyes, which were vacuum formed from plastic sheets. I had plastic ornaments that were the right size but wanted something more opaque in this case.

I was thoroughly enjoying Gecko Gods until the Escape misson where the game suddenly decided to change from a laid back couch game with occasional issues to a beat the clock platformer with terrible controls and the slowest damn camera I’ve ever seen. Wish I could return it, I’m that annoyed.

Many years ago, when @chieflotsahair.bsky.social were first dating, I visited her in Kansas City and she took me to the Nelson-Atkins Museum, where I took this photo of us. We visited family there for Christmas last year and took an update.

I need someone to trick Donald Trump into talking about Dolly Parton’s heath issues, because it seems inevitable that he’d say something nasty about her and then impeachment proceedings could start immediately.

Just saw Project Hail Mary at a small theater in a dying American mall. Nothing quite like laughing and/or crying in a theater all by yourself. I loved the book and the movie did it justice. So good. Amaze Amaze Amaze.

Tonight’s Worm Moon. Hopefully going to get up early and catch a bit of the eclipse before the sun rises. This is one of the prettiest full moon photos I’ve taken, it’s seriously clear out there tonight.

I broke out the immersion circulator last night for the first time in ages, to sous vide a pork tenderloin marinated in sazón, shallots, and garlic. Paired it with sautéed asparagus and homemade Spanish rice. We do okay over here, even with the cheap meats.

I became a fan of Bad Bunny last year, after this album came across one of my Google Alerts for toads, because of course I have Google Alerts for toads. The videos are all great, and I can't imagine why anyone who had actually watched any of these videos could possibly dislike Bad Bunny.

It’s January 14th and I’m still wrapping Christmas presents.

@toadfacts.bsky.social has been hopping lately (pun intended), around a hundred new followers a week now. Passed its Twitter follower count a while ago, prior to me deleting that account anyway. It even got its first follow farmer! Still enjoying it, but I gotta figure out how to deal with that.

A benefit of only owning Hyundai vehicles for the past twenty-odd years is that I knew exactly where to reach under the hood to manually put it in gear, I knew exactly what tools I needed to get to the shift linkage, and I knew what part probably failed. Ended up getting two replacements for free.

Another break, another thing breaks! This same bushing failed on @chieflotsahair.bsky.social's car on the first day she returned to in-school instruction back in 2021. We found it failed again today, fortunately the day before returning from winter break.

I captured the Horsehead Nebula tonight and reframed a bit so I would also get a good shot of the Flame Nebula there on the left. These are just a couple of the interesting objects in the Orion constellation. For reference, the big green star on the center left is the leftmost star in Orion’s Belt.

Well, that’s exciting! I bought that for a dollar years and years ago!
