I wouldn't mind some of my family--and wine--but this doesn't sound like a crowd I'd want to have suddenly pop in! Watching a horror movie sounds much more relaxing! (I'll be in my pjs. 😉)

The short sentences and the repetition are so effective here--leading into that last resonating stanza.

This is a great take on the prompt to start off. Lack focus leading to clarity. And the background.

Beautiful metaphor for 'crossing the line' in so many different ways! And the voice of the poem is powerful! Well done!

I love the quiet insistence of this--"This is where you-are-not-supposed-to lives" the line stepped over. I keep reading this one over and over.

‘you do not see it. It’s not painted or mapped out’ — that insistence draws the reader in. The unseen border becomes a manifesto for difference.

Would love to hear this at an open mic. It wants to be read aloud I think! Beyond this week's prompt its a wonderful dialog about resistance. 👏✨

At first it stopped me, but then I really found it effective how you hyphenated the phrases to turn them into nouns.

The way you start this poem with the “That one? / Oh, you noticed.” is genius; it really draws you in and makes you feel more like an active participant in a conversation than a passive reader. I really had the feeling you were telling me a secret. Wonderfully done!

‘the way my speech breaks’ says everything, no need for tears when silence does the bleeding. Love how you fold up the bravado.

This is bold spadework, indeed. Thank you for a powerful sharing. The final line, so effective. And love the "scares" and "scars" parallel here. 💥

‘like a savage butchery of war, were still strangely perfect’ is chilling. You expose how violence & beauty collide in these fragments.

Oh, I love this poem...it is powerful! The imagery is an explosion in my mind! I love the lines, "savage butchery of war," "strangely perfect, though just pieces!" And the strong turn at the end...so, so, good!

“We make them, these bodies, to look like us, then try to look like them.” 💯 Like how your poem dismantles an image… just like the mannequin’s been dismantled.

‘the silence of not being’ — pared back, devastating. This turns absence into atmosphere, asking if a single word could shatter the weight of collective quiet.
