Today marks the end of a chapter. After Easter I embark on an exciting new challenge. Days like this are always bittersweet.

Was thinking today about both the crisis in SEND provision and increase in exclusions. And I am of the opinion that (along with the usually cited reasons) the two big changes that have created much of the issues are the changes to curriculum and Ofsted of the last 10 years... 1/2

This is great - smart use of AI to reduce time taken to produce high quality multiple choice questions.

Perhaps naively, this graph in @schoolsweek.bsky.social today really shocked me. Lots of possible drivers, aware that factors such as proportions of special schools etc. will skew the data, and that rates of SEND are higher in the private sector. But still find it hard to reconcile the difference.

Silly Bluesky question… when you reply to a thread where several people are talking, how do you know who are ‘copied into’ the reply?

📌 This is ace, love the clarity & specificity. Like telling a teacher to ‘build a relationship with your class’ without any meaningful strategies or shared understanding of what that means, I think we often ask leaders to ‘build trust’ without explicitly defining what that means or how you do it.
