it is just so transparent when folks have dollar signs in their eyes. i see more people wanting to be part of something because they want to get noticed, rather than for the enjoyment of it. it's just exhausting and soul sucking and i hate it

would it be terribly wrong of me to say that I feel like "everyone wants to be a DJ, no one wants to be a dancer" applies to the TTRPG space? there's too much emphasis on selling products & shows and not enough emphasis on cultivating a community that can appreciate these things

I've oft said that TTRPG systems are just a language with which we tell our story. I think there is merit in inventing words to describe phenomena that do not already have an adequate descriptor. That said, I think eventually you have use those words to tell the story, not just make more words.
