The Trump administration has just announced that all college financial aid programs, scholarships, prizes, housing, and graduation ceremonies that help Black or Latino students are now considered to be illegal. The Education Department accuses colleges of discriminating against white students.

Health Alert finally out today from CDC. It has been 8 days since the case was first reported. That’s a shame. Timely comms to our frontline health workers in the US matters, a lot. ESPECIALLY during moments of uncertainty & confusion.

As an editor and as an author this concerns me greatly. We should all be concerned.

Each day of this communications ban at HHS is a detriment to progress and innovation... let alone a threat to the livelihood of our nation's scientific workforce- including those who run and work in labs across the country. Lives are at stake- current and future tense.

I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service. “Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.
