Christmas has certainly arrived in Nursery! 💚❤️

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!🎄 We worked together to assemble the Christmas tree and make our own festive decorations!✨

We made four different flavours of ice cream and invited our friends to a taste-testing party! After a scoop (or two!), we gathered opinions and made graphs to display our results. Spoiler alert: chocolate was a big hit!🍫🍦🍨

This week in BEC, we explored Pa lliw? by reading the story ‘Colour and Me’ We then practiced colour mixing in a variety of different ways. Additionally, we explored colour through cause-and-effect toys as part of our IDP targets to enhance our communication and interaction skills🎨🌈🌟

We've been inspired by a learners holiday to India and trip to the Market. We found a book called 'A Gift for Amma, Market day in India'. Learners used blocks to create their own Markets. Opportunities for learners that are meaningful and representative, create a sense of belonging #SAPSBelonging

1HW made their own kites using materials they chose themselves,each one totally unique and ready to fly! 🪁✨

This week we visited Big Pit. We started with a workshop where we pulled trams filled with coal. This then followed with a virtual King Coal experience. We finished with a surface tour and learnt about the equipment they needed to work in the mine with. We even got to see the canaries!🌟

5AO have loved taking care of Turbo this week! Their responsibilities have included cleaning his space 🧼 , feeding him 🥗and giving him lots of cuddles🌟

Over the week, we explored the importance of friendships in celebration of Anti-bullying week. We looked at what our friendships look like in our classroom community. We ended the week with lots of fun activities and a non uniform day in support of children in need.

Today we visited Big Pit. We started with a surface tour and learnt about the equipment the miners used and their experiences. We explored the Pit Head baths and the King Coal experience. We pulled trams during our workshop and had the opportunity to experience the sights and smells of the pit.

Lots of interest in board games in BSH so the adults have designed a Monopoly board inspired by our community! You’ll see St. Andrew’s, Morrison’s, and Lysaght’s as well as Rodney Parade and The Wave!

A huge thank you to Raven House Trust for inviting our families to cook. We harvested some carrots for our school garden and used these to make some delicious soup.
