So...umm..the grand scheme to clear my desk was...umm..like 75% sucessful? I can say I reduced the magic cards and sleeves significantly at least. I cleared enough room to play commander by webcam, so minimum viable product achieved.

I’m at the monthly commander night run at the local brewery in collaboration with a LGS. There is about a hundred people in here and a dozen didn’t know magic judges existed. (Yes. I went around and introduced myself)

The way I read things now is. If you make sure you gave enough interaction in your deck, you aren’t bracket 1. If you ensure your interaction is efficient, you aren’t bracket 2. This is why I think deflecting swat isn’t a game changer; it’s been sorta defined as a bracket 3 leaning card.

In the expedition 33 vs metaphor discussion, I’ll say that expedition was thrilling and metaphor was relaxing. I like both for different reasons.

I’m not a big fan of the Office, but mentally I put Secret Lairs as its own section in UB. There is a large difference between how Final Fantasy and Furby were treated. As long as they have no unique cards, secret lairs are given a pass unless the IP is truly objectionable.

TMNT is another 190 card set. WoTC, you are on thin ice with these small sets. I am giving the benefit of the doubt on Spider-Man, but you have zero excuse if the limited environment of TMNT is bad. It was designed for 190 cards from the beginning.

@judgecast.bsky.social when it comes to layers order, I think of how the order needs to work for cards to work. I copy a mind control. I change the text of a creature type. White creatures gain first strike.

I think I need to carry more 60 card decks with me. Not necessarily tier 1 decks but decks I like to play in various formats. Should I build a standard deck now or wait for bannings?

And to follow up. I visited the store when it opened and had a nice discussion with the owner. I ended up judging the RCQ; and yes, I was compensated for my time and no proxies were allowed. I working on getting them a judge for the next RCQ and possibly start training a judge for them in store.

Ok #MCatlanta. It’s been fun. It’s been real. But I’m fighting the Atlanta traffic to get on the road home.

So the ribbon popularity polls are in for #MCAtlanta. People loved being either the Stowaway or the Captain. But very few people chose to be Navigation. The elements had a very distinct hierarchy. Fire > Earth > Water > Air
