when i encounter people who say AI has a specific use in their chosen field, i trust them. there's plenty of evidence that LLMs have uses. but i will never use one for what I do. It would be a professional and creative death sentence.

Inspecting an aircraft repair, and comparing to to a detailed drawing, one fastener at a time. Up a ladder, look at repair, down ladder, step over weird metal bar, got to table and read drawing. Repeated that about ten times, until I forgot the ‘step over weird metal bar’ part. Fractured my knee.

A truly EXCESSIVE stack of air cleaners. My father in law was a special kind of car enthusiast. Fun fact though: his small dog used to love running up the front of this car, and he’d sit at the base of the windshield. Made the FIL laugh.

I love this statement of our times. To briefly mansplain: I think in both cases, it’s what each thing represents, “at that time” that is the catalyst. Which really makes it more poignant, and funny; respectively.

I almost forgot about all the weird and wonderful video game art that showed up in the early 80’s. Not to mention the awesome artwork that was on the old game cartridge boxes, that had very little to do with how the game actually looked, or played. Just setting the vibe, they’d say today.
