本日の「文系エッセンス：哲学」第2回（東工大大学院）は、「客観という言葉はどこから来たか」というテーマで概念の歴史を辿ってみました。 『日本国語大辞典』の「客観」の項目から出発して、そこに最古の用例として引かれている西周訳『心理学』のページを眺め（ほんの150年ほど前の日本語がいまとだいぶ違っている様子に注意しつつ）、「客観」という新造語がどのように使われているを見ました。 OEDのobject、『岩波哲学・思想事典』の「客観性」の項目を頼りに、object / subjectがもとは現在と反対とも言えそうな意味を担っていたことを確認したところで時間切れ。続きはまた来週。

I can't believe it's been one year since we adopted our crazy little Momotaro. He has seriously become such a happy pup over this past year. I hardly recognize him in his picture at the dog shelter. And of course, I baked him a dog friendly cake to celebrate.

Nothing breaks my heart more than American restaurants in Kyoto. I was so excited to see something other than hamburgers or hanbagu on the menu, only to find that what they called American spare ribs is very different than what I'm used to. 🤣

The main sakura are near the end, but I could see the kanzanzakura across the river will be blooming soon. 🥰🌸
