Brown on how he's evaluating the last roster spot: "One of the things that we value is competitive spirit. I'm big on that. "For us, every day is about competition, whether you're a coach or a player."

Brown on Yabusele: Said his toughness to get back into the NBA stands out to him. "That tells you a lot about him as a person."

Brown on Hart's finger: "He's a tough dude. That's his makeup. He defines toughness."

Brown on first practice: "It was good. Gave us an opportunity to know them and us to know us." Said they got to lay foundations down on both ends of the floor.

Yabusele said he had one or two options before joining the Knicks but wanted to be in New York.

Yabusele said he knew KAT a little bit. Said when he first got to America he worked out with KAT at his high school.

Yabusele on his big performances in Paris Olympics: "I was just trying to be the best on the court and help the team, be unselfish. Make plays."

Yabusele: "I liked the team, the spirit they have on the court."

Clarkson on if he's a New York kind of guy or Utah kind guy: "I'm an everywhere kind of guy. I'm worldwide."

Clarkson on Mike Brown: "Defensively, I think we're going to be super aggressive. "He's proven he's been in winning situations."

Clarkson said Knicks were at the top of his list.

Clarkson: "I'm a competitor at the end of the day. (Utah's) timeline just didn't add up with mine. And that's no disrespect."

Bridges on Thibs firing/Brown hiring: "Anybody being in a situation and losing their job ... I'm a human. It's always tough. I appreciated Thibs. Great guy. "Mike, great guy. I'm excited to have him here."

Hart said he re-aggrevated the finger he got a procedure on this summer somewhat recently. Said he may have to play with a splint this season.

Hart on where he sees himself: "If I don't start, I'll probably ask for a trade." He's kidding. "I think I'm a starter in the league. At the end of the day, it's what is best for the team."

Hart: "I love Thibs and will always love Thibs. He put me in the position to be successful and get paid." Said he's also very excited about the addition of Mike Brown.

Josh Hart on his summer: "It was solid. It was not long enough but that's not a bad thing."

KAT on reactions to changes this summer: "It's going to be a fun year. We have a great team. ...We're going to do everything possible to be the best versions of ourselves every single night."

Asked Brunson if he had any setbacks with his ankle this summer: "No setbacks. I feel great."

Brunson on Thibs firing: "It's sad to see a man I know for a longtime part ways with this organization. He's meant a lot to me. I've expressed that to him publicly and personally. He's meant a lot to my career."

Brunson on getting used to Brown's system: "It's going to take some time. I'm excited to learn more about his philosophies and concepts."

Brown on coming into high expectations: "First thing, I don't know if anyone has higher expectations than me. I love being in a position where you feel expectations."

Brown on how deep he'd be willing to go with rotation: "If you look at what I've done in the past, it's usually 9.5, 10 guys."

Brown on how getting the team to play faster: "For us, the biggest thing is getting to the corner quickly. "That'll flatten the defense."

Asked Brown if he knows his starting lineup: "It will materialize throughout camp. It's too early to say this is going to happen."

Brown said the team has had optional workouts this summer and it has been solidly attended.

Mike Brown: "It's exciting. I've been communicating with the players all summer. It's been fantastics to be around them. Everyone is itching to go."

Per league sources, the Knicks are signing Trey Jemison III, Kevin McCullar and Tosan Evbuomwan to two-way contracts.

Not fully back from vacation yet … BUT: Per league sources, the Knicks have signed Mohamed Diawara to an exhibit 10 contract. The Knicks have a rookie exception to fill out the roster and the second-round pick is a candidate to fill it.
