My next nerd activity is to look into why Jalen Brunson draws so many landing-area fouls while shooting 3s. His form isn't herky jerky. He doesn't leap that far forward on his jumper. I'm curious why it keeps happening.

Don't discount the return of Marcus Sasser with the Pistons. They need shooting and Sasser will let everyone around him know when he's on fire. Playing big minutes tonight and has already hit four 3s.

Because of all the drama and all the losses (and the time out), Kawhi's season has gone really under the radar. But my goodness, when he's on, he's still special. Got 40, five short of his career high, with 4 minutes to go in the third quarter.

Also, wild that the Pistons are yet to hit a 3, and there's 2:23 to go in the first half.

The Clippers are sneakily starting to play better ball. Won three in a row, all by double digits, and are overwhelming the Pistons right now.

The worst thing that happened to Jets fans was the NFL season going to 17 games. They really had to force one more week of misery? This could've been over in a couple hours.

One of the craziest stats of the season: Mitchell Robinson is averaging 12.2 offensive rebounds per 100 possessions, which means he, individually, is offensive rebounding at a higher rate than TWENTY-TWO TEAMS.

Understated theme inside all the Kevin McCullar stuff this game is his extra passing. Has had a few instances where he could go up for a good shot but has swung it and gotten the Knicks an even better one.

NBA players are so good. No person should be able to make the 3 Donovan Mitchell just swished.

KAT has made some big plays on the offensive boards since subbing in for Mitch, who was hounding Cleveland on the glass. Last one, where he read the shot from Kolek perfectly and sprinted to the other side of the court mid-shot, was an extremely difficult play.

Earlier this season, I watched all of Mitchell Robinson's passes & tracked that 74 percent of the time he passed after getting offensive rebounds, the Knicks shot a 3. Absolutely insane rate. While the Knicks have played plenty since, I can't imagine that number is so different.

Mitchell Robinson hasn't scored and yet is leading this comeback on offense. Rebound after rebound giving the Knicks more lives.

Accidentally stepped on a foot and rolled his ankle pretty bad. Hart stayed in to take the free throws, then limped to the locker room after under his own power.

Flagrant 1 on Hart, which could bite the Knicks, who have managed to keep this close while shorthanded. That's two extra points and the ball for the Wolves.

Super recovery from Karl-Anthony Towns tonight. Not just the scoring. Activity has been great. Clarkson doesn't get open on that last 3 if KAT doesn't run as hard down the court in transition as he did, which caused the defense to flinch. Just a really good performance so far.

Technically Mitchell Robinson has only two offensive rebounds, but at least three or four or five others have come because Philly has had to send a couple of guys to box out Robinson, which leaves lanes open for other Knicks to crash. This is what playmaking on the boards looks like.

As the rest of the NBA slows down, the Spurs are speeding up. The Cavs can't find their footing until Darius Garland finds his. And the Jazz, once again, are redefining rest. This week's around-the-NBA notebook:
