Visited my childhood home over the holidays and shared the good Bananza news with my old Clay K. Rool. He was born when I was in grade school, well after his likeness’ next most recent mainline DK appearance. We’ll both now get to celebrate whatever lies in store for his series in 2026 and beyond!

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (Super Donkey Kong 2) was released in Japan on this date 30 years ago! If the original DKC was everything I had wanted in a game at the time, DKC2 was what pushed me over the line as a lifelong DK and Rare obsessive. The greatest 2D platformer of all time!

Honestly the way this project forced me to re-confront the more painful years of being a DK fan might have just been the most valuable thing about it for me. It wasn't easy but it helped remind me of how far we've come, to be extra grateful for where we are now and the apparent future.

I've been waiting a long time for this moment. This is a full documentary on King K. Rool, his character, his boss fights, and his fall from grace along with the DK series. But more importantly, it is the story of how DK's fanbase rallied to make a series in limbo shine again under one jolly roger.

Yet another updated Diddy Kong has appeared in the wild, bringing us the latest Kong family art asset to reflect the big EPD Era redesigns.

Neckies are based incredibly faithfully on their DKC design (right down to the shoulder feathers that stick up, which I never in my life noticed until this game) except with somewhat bigger heads that put them somewhere in a middle ground between Necky and Mini-Necky proportions.

🐊 Kritters have particularly narrow pupils compared to a lot of Kremlings, highlighting their primal reptilian-ness (this was often, but not always, seen in other iterations) 🐊 In Crockoid form, a living Kritter has glowing "bloodshot" eyes compared to the pure golden ones of a skeletal Crockoid

Let's start with Kritters, who are using what we often call the Paon design or the post-buyout design, debuting in King of Swing and seen in many games since. You don't need me to tell you they look better than ever, though. Note the new Kremling Krew emblem on their belt buckle.
