My buddy @jayodjick.bsky.social gave me some advice I never forgot which was that you have to believe in *your* story, which no-one else can ever ever tell because it's *yours*. True true true. And then you also need to be able to explain that unique Your Thing to the people you want to love it.

When I get bored I feel like posting things like "Happy International Werewolf Day" but I don't just in case it becomes a thing.

Do not discount Aboriginal oral histories. They are often the only record of historical events like these, volcanoes and other major disruptions to life in Australia before colonisation, and can go back thousands of years with an accuracy that is unknown elsewhere.

Big thanks to the university of Victoria for having me in (virtually!) to speak with their indigenous language class! Always a treat to talk with people learning our languages and revitalizing for me!

Currently writing sequel to one of my graphic novels- the first sequel I've written. Aware/ paranoid of the sophomore slump; how in movies for example so many sequels suck compared to the original. Anyone know of movie sequels that are BETTER than the first film?

Writing the 2nd of a 3 book series, graphic novel. Blessed to be offered a 3 book deal not only cause that's awesome but knowing it will be a trilogy alters approach to story + allows you to plot out long arcs, character development across multiple books, plant seeds that will pay off down the road

Attending NAC 5 years of storytelling/ indigenous theatre anniversary

Most of my work now is writing and less so illustration - I have a range of books that will be coming out over the next few years across a variety of genres, picture books, graphic novels and recently sold my first novel to Penguin Random House / Tundra!

I then went on to illustrate two bestselling books written by Robert Munsch, Blackflies and Bear for Breakfast, the latter of which was published in Anishinabemowiin.

For people who may not be familiar with me, I created a graphic novel called Kagagi: the Raven that became the first Indigenous super hero television series, which I produced!
