So glad to see this written about. It takes 4 - 6 (or more!) human labor hours of editing, mixing and mastering to make a 90 minute conversation flow nicely and artfully. Video-forward shows tend to excise this process entirely and the resultant conversations flow and sound like shit as a result.

The secret of our show is pace and polish. I edit heavily on a tight turnaround and video simply isn't possible. You can't cut as tightly. Regular sound cuts would become jump cuts. Wrangling 3-7 video tracks on top of everything, and being constrained to sync and fps would result in a worse show
