Back at work after recovering from getting a stomach bug being passed around. I am so hungry. So tempted to get like five breakfast sandwiches and just unhinge my jaw.

In case anyone is interested, the wordmark on NaNoWriMo completely runs out next year. The one for National Novel Writing Month is good until 2031. Not that I really think they’d bother to sue for it at this point.

I know I already compared this situation to the Colleen Ballinger debacle, but Kilby posting the #NaNoWriMo “state of the union” video to her personal channel instead of the program one has the same vibe as posting an apology video titled “hi” to an obscure side vlog channel.

Related to what I’ve been discussing, calling a month of writing “The Month of Letters and Light” after what #NaNoWriMo originally called their nonprofit I think would be a funny fuck you to what it became.

I’m seeing a lot of soft takes from industry mutuals at the moment that we shouldn’t be so hard on those who use generative AI because it’s becoming harder and harder to resist. Wrong. Betraying your ethics (and your peers) because ‘everyone else is doing it’ does not suddenly make it acceptable.

Had Christmas dinner with my parents, played way too much Zenless Zone Zero (got Hoshimi Miyabi at eight to hard pity RIP me) and watched the first two Home Alone movies. I’d say my Christmas was a good one.
