Really nice bounce back from Saros today. He made a ton of key saves, especially in the third period when Sweden was really pushing. This game lived up to the hype as it always does.

Everyone expected Sweden to win, but this was still a fantastic game. Italy gave it everything it had until the end. Clara was simply sensational before getting hurt.

If you would’ve told me at the start of the season that the Penguins would be in second place at the Olympic break, I would’ve said you were from an alternate reality. I can’t say enough about how good of a job Dan Muse and the rest of his staff have done this year.

That’s a gutsy, gutsy win for the Penguins. Despite not having two of their fourth-liners, a top-six forward and a top-four defenseman, they still got the job done. Silovs also responded really well after giving up that howler in the first period. Big win heading into the break.

The penalty differential between the Penguins and their opponents this season continues to blow me away.

The Penguins held the Islanders to 0 high-danger chances and only 2 scoring chances at 5v5 during the third period and still gave up two goals. If that doesn’t sum up a typical Pens-Isles game, then I don’t know what does.

Every game against that team is the exact same. It really is.

It’s only one game but I really liked Solovyov’s debut. He’s a much better skater than I anticipated him being.

I figured Mantha was a good bet for the Beauvillier replacement, but I didn’t think he’d be at almost 20 goals at the end of January. That pass from Kindel was also so slick. His vision is so far advanced for an 18-year-old.

That was an outrageous move by Chinakhov after that no-look pass from Malkin. All got started by Wotherspoon laying that thunderous hit. What a steal he’s turned out to be.
