Hochschild: "Although life expectancy for nearly every other group rose, between 1990 and 2008 the life expectancy of older white men without high school diplomas was shortened by three years." These people are hurting. Democrats need to help them.

Bill Cassidy behaved today as he should have behaved during RFK Jr.’s confirmation. The problem is that now he can’t unring the bell. His actions in confirming Kennedy and convincing others to do so has already caused irreparable damage to science and public health in the United States.

The best thing Kimmel could do right now is do what the Right does when it is deplatformed: replatform yourself on another service, go live, and dunk on the administration harder than ABC would ever have allowed him to. OK, here's a blatantly liberal idea. People who do harmful things are often people in pain. Once we've intervened to stop the harmful behavior, the next step is to understand the perpetrator's pain and help them find a way to end it. This works in relationships and it will work in politics.
