It's not lost on me AI "art" conversations went from "It's the idea that's valuable! AI helps ppl with good ideas to realise them when they lack the skills/means" to "We believe in human talent to execute our project! We just want to use AI for idea generation". This is why workers need solidarity!! The more we stick together the more power we have. It's always such a huge bummer to me when I see authors using AI to make cover art when I know they wouldn't be okay with their manuscripts being fed into AI to make and sell books.

I think part of the reason the reaction to people arguing *for* GenAI use is so aggressive is that not a single one of these arguments bothers to meaningfully engage with the ethical problems these technologies present. And those ethical problems are monumental. They're not minor.

Similar to how voice AI use has been suggested; for 'scratch' or reference. I know many actors, myself among them, who got jobs from the scratch work. Every example of AI being used I've seen is cutting away a job that someone coming up would take or get on their journey. Maybe that's the point.

Recently was advised to use AI for pitching TV series because "your competitors will all be using it so your pitch will be lacklustre and fall behind if you don't". As polite as I'd like to be about it, I need to say it - I think "everyone else is doing it" is a bitch coward excuse.

AI is getting shoved down people in creative industries' throats by higher-ups that have never created anything in their lives. They love AI because they don't understand (or like) the creative process. Truly depressing that those people are in the position to make decisions for entire industries.

it is so poisonous to react to "this is a hard part of the process" with "how do i skip this part of the process." just do something else if making art doesn't interest you damn
