Don't know who needs to hear this, but Linux is not a desktop OS. Linux is a _foundation_ for a desktop OS. Linux + a desktop environment (GNOME) + a bunch o' apps are _sort of_like an ersatz, homebrew version of a desktop OS, but still not a full replacement for e.g. Windows or macOS.
