We Lived Happily During the War by Ilya Kaminsky. It just captures the feeling of knowing you could do more, you should do more, to stop atrocity, but also knowing you can't and you won't and that's human, and that's the tragedy.

In the 90's and 00's there were a "finding out there's a secret war out there" TTRPGs about punks vs the system fighting mystic wars for the soul of humanity. A 20's version should be "there was a war, and the better side lost, totally destroyed." Wonder what system that would work best.
