The way people are talking about the current demolition of research funding and HE legitimacy reminds me of the early days of COVID when I (and others) said it would be at least six years before any normalcy. Rage, despondency, rejection…eventually voting for a dictator just to feel alive.

A day early but a reflection on the past 9 months and the next 3: WOW. I need a nap. This year has included my dad almost dying twice, my cancer diagnosis, major surgery, 3 months of chemotherapy plus recovery, multiple small grant awards and major grant applications/rejections.

I repost this as someone who generally gets excellent student evals. I still know they’re biased and should not be used in decisions about jobs/promotion/pay raises/etc.
