I do not understand telling creatives to "shut up about politics." One, this is life in this world. You can acknowledge being part of it, or you can pretend you're immune until you find out you're wrong. Two, there are plenty of creatives doing the latter. If you don't like us, follow them 🤷‍♀️

A thought for the book clubs! Set aside a little time at the start of meetings to fight for the right to read. Members send emails, sign petitions, write postcards. Research local candidates. 10-15 minutes tops & then onto the book, wine, fun. Amplify your activism. Celebrate your community.

I’m going to write this novel and the next one and the one after and I have no clue if my agent will like them or be able to sell them or how much they’ll sell for or to whom or how well they’ll perform, but none of that matters because the only thing I can control is the work I put in. I just got a public death threat from a few folks who noticed I am doing a library event to talk about my career and my books. They called me all the familiar names, then “I won’t be sad if someone shoots her in the face.” And a woman’s reply, “Right between the eyes.” I am a children’s author.
