I finally have permission to lift the lid! I am pleased to announce that I have signed a contract with Baynam Books Press to publish my novelette, "The Consort." In this horror-fantasy story, a young man makes a Faustian pact with a demon in exchange for dating advice. Hijinks and peril ensues!

I picked up "Don't Forget the Girl" by @rebeccamckanna.bsky.social at the Kansas Book Festival this year, and I was not disappointed. It's such a wonderful, emotional, and complex look at grief and relationships. 5/5 would recommend.

Threads is talking about how Stephen King was everyone's introduction to reading. I love King, but he wasn't who got me started. No, mine came from @realmickfoley.bsky.social. He had the nerve to write a 500+ page autobiography, and teenage me ATE IT UP. I wouldn't be where I am today without it.

On another note, I just finished reading "The Girl with Barnacles for Eyes" by @lyndseycroal.bsky.social and it is SO GOOD!

Back when I was working as a research assistant, the peer reviewer for a paper I was helping to revise, rather humorously, mistakenly remarked that "the awkward is writing." But, seriously, I want "The Awkward is Writing" on a mug or a poster.

Who I am: I'm a professor and horror writer based out of Western Kansas. During the day, I write academic articles on medieval literature. By night (and whenever I can swing the free time), I pen macabre stories about things like books bound in human skin and Faustian bargains!
