This post made me realize that Majora's Mask too can be considered a New Year's-themed "Y2K survival" game. It was released in 2000, it has the moon countdown "ball drop" concurrent with an annual fireworks show celebrating time, and defeating Majora means everyone lives to see "Dawn of a New Day"

Every final boss in an Adventure Island game is either a sorcerer, a demon, or an alien. In Super II, the last original game in the series, the final boss appears to be an amalgamation of these three things. "Demon God Akum" transforms from a dark wizard into a flying scorpion fought in space.

In Japanese, "Tina" is the name of the Adventure Island protagonist's love interest, with one exception: "Jīna" in Super Adventure Island. In English, she's called something different in nearly every game, implying that Master Higgins is a womanizer. Below is a chart outlining the name changes:
