Leaseholders and social tenants across my constituency are being fleeced by rising service charges & skyrocketing insurance costs. I asked the Prime Minister in #PMQs when the Government will publish the Leasehold & Commonhold reform bill to fix the outdated and feudal leasehold system in England.

The Government have given mayors more powers to build the transport infrastructure we need in the UK, such as the West Yorkshire Mass Transit scheme. I asked the Government how they were ensuring that these new powers saw developments sped up, not slowed down.

With the Government announcing it's new Road Safety Strategy which will introduce a number of much needed changes it's a good time to read about Barbara Castle's reforms back in the 1960s! labourlist.org/2025/12/barb...

It's quite interesting how some of the commentary around welfare seems to be trapped in the 2000s; noticing people are criticising claimants for having mobile phones when it is actually virtually impossible to do most forms of work (esp shift work) without one.

This graph shows the impact of the budget on different income deciles. TL:DR it's the wealthiest who will shoulder the burden of paying for public services.

Scrapping the two child limit will make a huge difference to tackling child poverty. At the stroke of a pen the Chancellor will lift nearly half a million children out of poverty. This is the difference a Labour Government can make.

I think a lot of people forget some of the political realities of the 1970s- deaths on roads were much higher, many women were written off attending university or starting a career & many diseases were a death sentence. A lot has improved over the past 50 years!
