it is -10 here today. I was supposed to go do a volunteer shift standing outside loading groceries into people’s cars to deliver to families stuck at home. just got a call not to come in because they have too many volunteers already. if you were wondering if the cold would stop us.

Broadview is restricting the items people will be allowed to bring inside it’s designated protest area near the ICE facility — under threat of removal or arrest — ahead of a protest tomorrow, which the village said it expects to bring 2-5k people to Lexington and Beach Street.

Made my first court appearance today to defend against the charges from November 14th. The state says that ostensibly what happens in Broadview is legal, but we know it is neither right nor legal. The state says that protesting a concentration camp is wrong, but we know better than that, too.

I feel like the fractures we are seeing in the MAGA coalition have some people hoping the status quo will simply make a roaring comeback, and judicial consequences will simply engulf all of the bad guys. There's really no precedent that supports that expectation.

This morning, while protecting ICE from protestors at the ICE facility, the Broadview Police arrested the Statue of Liberty.

In Broadview this morning, just outside of Chicago, where you can get a police surveillance pod, a drone, and a helicopter in a single shot.

Happening now: we're at the Broadview ICE facility outside Chicago. CCSO + Broadview police are telling protesters + press they can't stand on the west side of 25th Street for any reason. We asked what the precise public safety issue is. They just said they're anticipating cars coming through.

When I looked out the window this morning I saw this across the street. I think this Big Feelings about the changes to our town’s leaf collection policy, but we can’t be sure. Either way, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas .

I am trying to figure out my fantasy football lineup in the same room that my wife is reading aloud with my fifth grader the homework that was assigned for his sex ed class. If I lose this week, this is why.
