I do have a Kato Caltrain already, but it was just a repaint scheme by Kato, with the body being an Amtrak F40PH so it has roof strobes and the horns mounted at the front above the emergency light (might “correct” that model as well, after it get my practice in with this spare body)

Motivated by seeing all the custom locomotive work at the Bay Area’s Railroad Prototype Modelers I started trying to convert and detail a spare Kato Amtrak F40PH shell into a Caltrain F40PH So far patched the horn cutout on the roof and added a gyralite housing, ditchlights and front grabs

feel like I've done very little this weekend and yet I'm EXHAUSTED 😴

actually started the pumper truck FIRST, but messed up the base paint of the body (didn't mask correctly and overall was too thickly applied) frustrated, I put the body in an alcohol bath for 48 hours to strip the paint off and build the ladder truck and glad I was able to give it a second try!

dinner I had last night was LIT 🔥 idk if I’ve ever had branzino before, but sea salt–baked and finished table side was quite the experience and it was tasty as HECK 🐶💦🐟 (also the gentleman who brought it to the table and lit it up had a gorgeous Rolex Deep Sea that I couldn’t help but ogle ⌚️👀 )

Probably the most complex N Scale vehicle kit that I think Showcase Minatures offers, but can’t level up your skill without challenging yourself, phew! (Still have the ladder yet to build, but with the truck body basically done, the hardest part is over!)
