Chris Bowen mocks Liberalsâ equivocation on âbare minimumâ target of net zero by 2050

The climate change and energy minister also warned that breaking Australiaâs bi-partisan commitment to the âbare minimumâ emissions target risked creating a sovereign risk for renewables investors. Peter Dutton's plan to block renewables once we get to 54% (we hit 47% for October and averaged 40% for the last 12 months ...) threatens households who don't have solar yet but want to install it in future to save money using their own roof space. Not very liberal; very Liberal

Delaying renewable energy in favour of nuclear reactors will result in a collapse in industrial energy consumption - according the LNP's own modelling. This is equivalent to the shutdown of Australia's entire aluminium sector and would be a disaster for jobs, regional communities and emissions.

Peter Dutton thinks, or says, he can just order coal power stations to stay open longer. Meanwhile they keep getting more difficult, dangerous and expensive to keep running reliably or at all.
