"How are you?" You might ask, "Vibrating with anxiety," I shall reply. "Anything in particular?" "EVERYTHING in GENERAL!" I cry as the vibrations reach a fevered pitch and I shatter into a thousand dots of sparkling light.

I saw Marjane Satrapi speak about her work at Smith College 19 years ago, and she said something I have thought about and taught ever since when I teach comics. βI draw what I canβt write and I write what I canβt draw.β

You may never have asked yourself "what if there was no romance in The Cutting Edge" but Jessica Kim sure did! A pairs skater's partner gets injured before a big competition. She's watching her dreams go up in smoke. Her brother has just gotten kicked off the hockey team. Her mom has a plan!

Also loved recommending and sold out of Tiffany Jackson's Blood on the Water. Murder mystery? Shark attacks? All set in Martha's Vineyard's historically black community? OH YEAH.

It's been a very

book fair this year! Introducing (INTRODUCING!!) Princess in Black to a new generation of readers, handing Dream On to scads of 2nd and 3rd graders. And my beloved Princess Academy - we got the copies with the blue flowered edges. πππππ

Today's agenda: Close out the book fair and pack it up. Temperatures in the 80s. Unairconditioned room on the 4th floor. If you need me this evening I shall be asleep on the sofa.

Highlight of the book fair: Every single child that I was able to help with a rec. I hope you love them! Low point of the book fair: The parent who audibly mocked me to the other parents when I misspoke and said an author was visiting this summer rather than this coming fall. π

I once walked in my local pizza join lt without any money on me. Forgot my wallet entirely. But I'm in a lot and I'm friendly and he told me to just pay next time I came in. (Which I obviously did plus large tip). Local businesses are the best.

This seems like a dumb question but is there a good website or app to track gas prices in one's local area?

Heard a stocky white man in a parking lot on the phone say "there's a Mexican here selling food with no tags". My β₯οΈ sank & I prepared myself. Then he said "what do you want", & repeated the person on the other end's order in broken Spanish to the woman in the car. I've never been more relieved.

I feel like we should be taught what foxes sound like in school because you can go your whole life without hearing one and then suddenly be like "A banshee is being murdered outside. I am moments from death."

Love the Mr. but he made extra spicy charred carrots for dinner without turning on the vent fan and there is a reason pepper is a weapon, my love.

There is absolutely no time like the present to brush up on bystander skills so you can help if you see someone being harassed like this in the women's room. This is one resource that could help.

I suspect shot hole disease but does anyone else have ideas? Feeling despairing because it was a new tree, the old one got sick and now I am worried the ground itself is too contaminated and the tree has no chance. Any tips? I have read online but it seems overwhelming.

I am so tired and nothing in my room wants me to sleep. It is GUSTING outside. I can close the windows and be hot. I can leave them open and the door shakes. π Also SOMEONE is snoring. And is not stopping snoring. Considering the sofa at this point.

I want a very polite word with whoever decided 11-14 is a good age group for running results. I mean technically it's middle school? But it's also a HUGE developmental range from like "absolutely a child, gets in some places free" to "physically a grown ass adult a foot taller than their peers".

I was trying to explain what ChatGPT is to my mom (she thought it was a messaging app) and after my explanation and some thought, she volunteered, βOh, so itβs the magic mirror in the beginning of Snow White when it only tells the queen what she wants to hear.β Perfect analogy.

It is hot and today I took 3 7th graders and 2 4th graders for mini golf and rolled ice cream and I paid a dude $50 to knock down and haul away my old rotting shed so I feel like I should be excused for the rest of the evening to sip cold beverages in a tepid tub. But instead I'm gonna clean.

All the UK heat posting is reminding me of when I went there in HS on a trip and it was inexplicably/ unseasonably hot and I wore shorts, nearly knee length skort adjacent shorts and my teacher told me I was an embarrassment to the US of A & like...I can say with sincerity now, no I fucking am not.
