Just watched the BBCThree repeat of
#DoctorWho
The Eleventh Hour and by god it's brilliant. I forget just how good an introductory story it is, not just for a new Doctor but for the programme in general. Matt Smith is fantastic and definitely my favourite new series Doctor- an equal to Tom Baker!

True story about how memories linger long after the fact: back in the 80's when as a teen I decided the goth life would be for me and started wearing all black, my Grandmother (b1922) turned around and said with incredible disapproval "Are you a blackshirt now?" And I had to convince her otherwise

Never more apt. I'd forgotten how angry this song was, to the point where the writers stop with the jokes halfway through

The more I look at this page the more I think it a work of genius. There's an argument to be made that contemporary comics are possibly the best they've ever been on a technical level, but the price of this is too often a loss of comic's storytelling that this page exemplifies 1/10

Russell T Davies, it’s fair to say, has the gift of the gab. A master of the press release soundbite and its carnivalesque come-hither call, more importantly he’s an eloquent and impassioned disputant...

A great summary of an episode so good this scene is barely mentioned. I, Claudius really is the pinnacle of 1970's tv drama

Genuinely loving

's reviews of Camelot 3000. I'm old enough to have bought it on release but haven't read it since the late 80's trade, and Tegan does what any reviewer should do, which is make me want to reread it. Stirling stuff

Legion of Super-Heroes Team-Up: each month a DC character finds them catapulted to the future to help out a bunch of teenagers in the 31st century (a cheat as you have multiple combination of LSH characters at your disposal, but a solution to their "detachment" from the 21st century)

When younger I used to dismiss Frank Thorne as a "Good-Girl" artist but now I'm just in awe of his storytelling- He uses angled body and limb poses as well as eye-lines to effortlessly lead the readers eye around the page so even without text you can understand the story. Quite, quite brilliant

Genuinely shocked by just how visceral the reaction to the last couple of episodes of Doctor Who has been from fandom- don't think I've seen such negativity since the Seventh Doctor Era. Which, unsurprisingly, is what the last two seasons remind me of

Belinda's not a stay at home mum though: she's a single parent holding down a stressful job as a nurse (mainly working nights to make sure she has time with her daughter) which is the direct opposite of Conrad's 50's vision of how women should be mothers who stay at home to look after their children

RIP Peter David- there was a period during the 90’s where his were the only Marvel comics that I read. His most fitting epitaph is probably Incredible Hulk 467, the final issue of his run, and probably my favourite PAD authored comic

As someone who got into gaming late (at 50) but have enjoyed Skyrim and ES Online, I'm underwhelmed by Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remaster- it seems slow & reinforces how Bathsheba games rely on mods. Willing for anyone to convince me to continue playing though

My prediction for the 1st episode (based on other recent tv adaptations) is that it opens with a VO about the wizarding world because the producers have no faith in the audience & ends with Harry seeing Hogwarts for the first time. Everything will have a sepia tone filter and by god it will be slow
