Game dev: Godot 4.1 Small progress in the platformer mod, added text for the controls for users and devs to learn controls easier. Was trying to figure out how to make it visible or invisible with the button I made in the menu for it but couldn't figure it out, so it's just part of the menu for now

While I'm not entirely finished playing through Castlevania SOTN, I still hold the same opinion I did when I was a kid which is "looks like this game is only fun if you have a bunch of guides". Turns out the only way to even finish normally is with them, which is why I liked lament of innocence more

Game dev: Godot 4.1 Encountered my first self made bug today in the platformer mod. This was made whenever I organized the files into their own folders to make them easier to find in the editor. Perhaps I didn't save the changes or something but was fixed by going into each tscn>edit depend...>fix

Game dev: Godot 4.1 Updated the platformer mod and Mario clone project by organizing the scripts, images, sounds, etc into folders; this prevents the issues of "where is everything?" and "why is it all jumbled together in one folder?" Updated collision shape in Mario clone to match image size

The topic of 2.5D came to me recently and thought I'd share in case some of you do 3D models or render them and 3D games are too complicated. 2.5D is basically where you render 3D models into images and use them for 2D games or use pseudo 2.5D by using 3D models at 2D angels (still 3D imo)

Game dev: Godot 4.1 Got some small progress in the new project but still stuck at how to make a new type for player, instead of just being directly from character 2d body. Managed to make a scene into a node for the main scene by dragging it into a node. Might add moving left/right next, sounds etc

Got a random block from an account with mostly spam followers but it's a NSFW account. They're getting the block back but still funny they can't tell the difference

Game dev: Godot 4.1 No progress on the the game or the new project but ended up learning more about the structure of player node in the example project. No patience for the scripting portion yet but I'll be able to figure out how to give the player a camera, texture, sounds, etc for next time

Ended up playing games after drinking some pickle juice. Not exactly progress with game dev but still some progress in the game while I decide what steps I'll take with it next. Still funny to think about how building games with no template is easier for me in C than with Godot, for now

Made some coffee and added sugar instead of making dinner. Hopefully that's enough to reduce caloric intake to lose some weight, while still giving me enough energy to do stuff

Game dev: Godot 4.1 Ended up learning how to use a texture rect on my own and trying each node individually until I can figure them all out. This process seems very slow. Will probably have better luck just using the demo project as a guide and attempting to build one based off it directly

Ended up working on a new project after the platformer, which seems to be another platformer. Seeing how far I can go with Godot 4.1, starting from an empty project instead of modding a demo or example project

App crashing again, aka BS crapping. Time for another break

Using my criteria, I've unfollowed around 300 accounts the past 2 days. Now only 15k to sort through at most. To think how many I'd be able to go through if the app weren't constantly crashing and having to take a break afterwards so my phone doesn't accidentally get thrown at a wall
