Played Nucleum with the Australia and Energy Research Institute expansions tonight. I didn’t think I really needed more complexity in Nucleum but it sure was fun to explore all the new systems here.

This is pretty cool for fans of Scythe or Expeditions. I can't really tell how the gameplay will feel yet but I'm interested in trying it. What I'm REALLY excited about though is the update to the Scythe combat system (with new cards) that makes this standalone expansion a must have for me.

I love the thrill of walking into a Half Priced Books and never knowing what gem of a board game you might find. Tonight it was an unpunched Grand Austria Hotel for $35. A good week.

Underwater Cities with the super asymmetric boards that come with the first expansion was great. Hoping the Data Era expansion is picked up by a US publisher soon.

First time playing Parade at more than 2 players and it was still fantastic.

I was really excited to play one of my favorite games, Everdell, tonight and it was sad to see the rough edges of this design that I had forgotten existed really ruined the experience for a friend.

Played 7 Wonders by @reposproduction.bsky.social tonight. This was the first time playing with any expansions and we played with 3 of them. Cities, Leaders, and Armadas. All great additions.

I suck at Rumble Nation more than I usually suck at games but I want to keep trying because it’s just so darn fun. Feels slightly like Can’t Stop but with planning and strategy and stuff.

Blueprints is a super cool puzzle of a dice drafting game.

The text in the massive Kemet: Blood and Sand appendix was so small I was forced to wear readers tonight.

Orbis is a cute Splendor weight game. A clever shared economy that makes you rethink every choice because you just might be setting up the other players. But the resources are followers.

Pulsar 2849 always hits for me.

Had a great time at @boardgamegeek.com Con in Dallas this weekend. Lots of great memories with my brother as well as friends of the podcast playing lots of great (and a few not-so-great) games in Dallas. BGGCon is always welcoming and well-organized. I'll be back.

Lightning Train is great! It’s not as brisk as the name led me to believe but I really enjoyed the choices every turn. A cool use of bag building. Turns out Paul Dennan makes fun games!

The Gang was exactly as much fun as I’ve heard. Also believe that it wouldn’t be very good with players that weren’t reasonably experienced with Texas Hold’em.

Dang it. I really, really loved another version of Everdell. Everdell Silverfrost.

My brother LOVED Vantage. I figured he would. Took me less than 5 minutes to setup, teach him what he needed to know and get playing.

2 back to back games of The White Castle Duel. Really like this game.

Got to play the Dara Age expansion for Underwater Cities finally. Loved it! Another perfect addition to the game.

Looks like the hype is warranted. The Druids of Edora is Feld at the top of his game. But the most impressive thing was how Alea finally managed to pull off a board game production that feels like it was made within the last decade. Was not expecting that.

I’m not a very big fan of White Castle but White Castle Duel is fantastic. The meatiest ‘duel’ version of a game I’ve played and all of the meat is cooked perfectly. Surprised the heck out of me.

Duel for Cardia is a clever card battler that plays quickly and is one of the better head-to-head Iocaine Powder contest that I’ve played.

Although experienced with Imperial Settlers, this was my first time playing its grittier, post-apocalyptic cousin, 51st State. I liked the theme, tone, and some of the minor mechanical differences more than Imperial Settlers but it feels dated compared to my favorite modern tableau builders.

Rum and Bones is a surprisingly fun ameritrash MOBA style game from the height of CMONs big dice chucking kickstarters. I love my big, clumsy blue whale, Ismael. His favorite thing is running into a mob of crew and pushing their hero over the edge of the boat.

It's freaking game night!

Jack at the Cardboard Herald is my favorite video reviewer in board games. No joke. He provides deep coverage and great analysis without the snark that many of the larger video channels seem to lean on while still having a great sense of humor.
