We really messed up using the word intelligence in artificial intelligence. The thing isn’t intelligent at all. It’s all algorithms and decisions are made by the instructions in the algorithm. I need people to understand there is 0 actual intelligence or thinking involved.

Please read the doctor visit summaries thoroughly. Many are no longer asking if they can use AI transcribers so I haven't been able to opt out. I've had to correct my medical record twice recently because the AI misheard medication names, so my prescriptions and instructions were incorrect.

Unpopular opinion: CS education is needed but not because I want people to get jobs in STEM fields. I think it is beneficial for developing critical thinking skills, which is lacking in our society because we keep finding ways to skip the hard work.

We are not heading for a crisis, we’re in it. They have taken over media, universities, the legal system… and they are sending innocent people to concentration camps.

Some AI scientists are trying to train a machine so it learns how humans learn. And I want to hold their hand when I tell them this: it’s a machine. It does not actually understand. It’s much like a rock that will move if the human moves it, but it cannot move on its own.

Today is Trans Visibility Day. Nobody should be persecuted for existing. I hope our trans community gets to feel completely safe being authentically them soon. And I hope this country learns to care for others rather than always attack those that don’t fit a made up mold.
