This gives a bunch of problems that boil down to AI is swamping peer review because people are fraudulently passing off AI text as their own scientific output. For all the weaknesses of peer review, a solution that pushes for more AI without addressing AI-facilitated fraud is fundamentally unserious

Just heard a term to complement p-hacking: RGB-hacking. p-hacking tweaks analyses to get results below a desired thresh & RBG-hacking tweaks the colormap & scale. + vals pop more with this colormap. Not calling out the source because I could easily find another & this can be done without ill intent.

Five years ago, I had a very sick child and referrals to several pediatric medical specialists and tests in a building a few blocks from the US Capitol. The kid got a diagnosis. Treatment worked. But for me, January 6, 2020 means memories of rescheduling medical appointments for a very sick child.

So I made a little simulation where there is no actual discordance, i.e. the underlying values from which the CBF, CBV, BOLD, and T2* are measured all move in lockstep. With zero noise this gives you zero discordant voxels (nice little diagonal line).

Great & important work. That said, one area that is still overlooked is data quality. This is harder to model because contrast-to-noise can be application specific, but it's critical when designing large studies. Better data means similar results with smaller N or shorter scans. 1/2
