Every offseason teams across the NFL make head-scratching decisions. Here are some of the most puzzling from this year.

So naturally, Brian Fleury is not going to do that. But, if you want to approach that mix, you're a lot better off with Brady Russell being the trigger man for the 21 personnel run/pass splits than Robbie Ouzts, so again, I just don't see Ouzts as anything but an urban legend at this stage. IIWII 🤷‍♂️

Robbie Ouzts is the classic guy that need to sit on the Practice Squad & bake a little longer. If they ask him to be Kyle Juszczyk right away he'll fail. Good coaches put their players in positions to succeed. Throwing to your project FB 30%+ of the time out of 21 personnel is a recipe for disaster

And when I say this I mean very directly, Robbie Ouzts is not a NFL TE. If he can't beat out Brady Russell at FB, he is not on the team. Seahawks intend to run less 12 & 13 personnel with the extra TE (given the ascension of the OL performance) leading to fewer TEs kept than currently expected.

A very interesting training camp battle will be the subtleties of what to do with Ouzts, Russell and Kallerup. There is strong chance that 2 of the 3 do not make the roster in September. Like with Holani in the RB group, there is one guy with position flexibility & 2 others that need a defined role.

We all want to love the idea of Ouzts. He will no doubt get a running start & absolutely truck LBs in this offense but fans will sour after a couple key drops in tight moments if they ask him to be a WR, which they definitely have this spring. Coaches approached him and challenged him to improve. 👀

Bottom line: A first time OC will experiment and the team will waffle at times to hit their stride. That was the calculated risk taken by Mike Macdonald & John Schneider when choosing Fleury. They know this is a process and it will evolve over the season. NFL's best defense is a great crutch to have

I know it's sacrilege at this stage but I'm guessing that Ouzts CAN'T handle the whole Juszczyk role and that'll lead to experimenting with more traditional WR sets. Darnold is less effect in those shotgun looks so it'll evolve back to a very Kubiakesque version of what Fleury initially envisions
