I've skipped so many good movies because they had bad trailers.

Nickel Boys blew me away. Stunning movie. Overall, Dekalog was fine, with great episodes. Just not really my thing. The Hunger Games movies are mediocre adaptations of a great book series. It should be remade with a much stronger POV. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

Listening to Dylan's Blackbushe show for the first time today. 78 Dylan is my favourite pre-NET period. Each leg has its own highlights, but mid-year has the perfect balance between the unhinged late-78 shows, and the more tepid early 78 shows.

some people try to connect with my by quizzing me about movies. "Do you know this obscure Japanese movie Our Little Sister?" "You mean the Kore-eda film? I love him." No one seems to realize the movies I haven't seen are 80s and 90s blockbusters. Top Gun? Titanic? Not a clue.

as someone who hates streaming, and also finds vinyl too expensive, I am deeply disturbed by the disrespect that Lorde shows to the compact disc. They are truly the best music format.

Slowly making my way through Tracks 2 over the past few days left. I've got 2 albums left (Twilight Hours and Perfect World). I was pretty suspicious of the release, but have been pretty blown away by it.

Forgot to do this on Friday, so here are my #lastfourwatched #letterboxd. To be clear, I do not think Zemeckis and Godard are on the same level. I had some issues with Le Petit Soldat (but keep thinking about it), and was caught off guard by how much Here moved me (despite its flaws).

In other news, I'm very excited to see Bob Dylan again in September. I don't imagine he'll still be doing Rainy Night In Soho then, but this is a pretty exciting start to a tour. I would be happy to hear Under the Red Sky and Forgetful Heart.

I was really expecting Andor to miss the landing. It feels weird to have a Star Wars TV show be this consistent and focused, and to really know what it's about from start to finish.

I loved how much Sinners added to the Vampire genre. It's the opposite of Eggers's Nosferatu (but kind of similar to Herzog's version). Also, I watched the Great Dictator with my mom this week. She was really anti-Chaplin at first, but came around by the end. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

Had a dream Bob Dylan played a private concert for me in an abandoned office space. My photography professor ways on keys. They were jamming out an instrumental song. When I woke up I realized it was the 30 Rock theme song playing on loop on my tv.

Really enjoying the recent Robert Hunter reissues Tales of the Great Rum Runners, and Tiger Rose. He's a great singer, and reminds me of Jonathan Richman. Unfortunate that he's known primarily as a lyricist.
