📸 Spend time with photography today for #WorldPhotographyDay Take in every microscopic detail of Jon Sasaki's photographs in Homage. These monumental photos depict petri dishes with blooming bacterial cultures. They were grown from swabs of the palettes and brushes once used by the Group of Seven.

🪡 Can you believe this charming needlepoint was made by a nine-year-old nearly 200 years ago? Stitched by Catherine Amelia Valentine in 1830, this intricate piece features cross-stitched alphabets, a rose-bordered frame, and text with delightfully creative spelling, including the artist's own name.

💐🐈 From the Vault for #InternationalCatDay — Who else has lost a houseplant to the rambunctious antics of their cat? Bessie Alcorn’s Flowers and Cat perfectly captures classic orange cat behaviour; mischievous, curious, and just a little too interested in your most fragile things.

🗂️ Our summer interns, Caitlin and Theodore, are hard at work behind the scenes in our Print Vault, helping with a reorganization project. Home to thousands of works on paper, including photographs, prints, and drawings, the Print Vault is getting additional storage via a new flat file.

💪 It's another installation week! That means unpacking, careful handling, framing, and installing works for the new exhibition Directions, curated by Roxie Ibbitson (the Owens' Preparator/Registrar), opening Saturday, June 21.

Have you ever noticed that a few of the paintings in the Salon Hanging exhibition have strokes of paint on their frames? These brushstrokes were left by students at the Mount Allison Ladies’ College in the 19th C trying to match their palettes as they copied the works.

📸 As part of a documentation project, the Graduate Self-Portraits recently took a quick trip off the walls to be photographed. Thanks to our summer interns, Caitlin and Theodore, the portraits are now safely back on display and they put their knowledge of safe art handling practices into action.
