Someone posted their paintings of a magnolia blossom and it reminded me of my watercolour painting of a magnolia blossom. I painted it as a thank you gift to Airbnb hosts, and often wonder if they kept it or not.

I don’t need or want a yarn winder. But winding yarn is *such* a chore. I mean. This technically only took 30 minutes... But it feels like it took hours to wind.

Medical stuff is so… bewildering. I can’t get in to the pacemaker clinic, or see my cardiologist. I can only go to emergency? Which makes me question if am I bad enough, if I have the energy for an 8 hour + stint for what could be nothing vs. Just staying in bed.

A drawing from 2016 which feels relevant for my American friends today

I did little watercolour illustrations as one of the appendices for my masters thesis (I wrote about the design in a version of Eugene Onegin at the Met).

But I still love working like this. It’s not as strong, I mean this looks pretty sketchy, but I kinda miss the Melissa that was like “what if Fish played golf” and then just… drew that. I really get in my head these days.

Yesterday I sat down and did four Lilies of the Valley using different media. I did a pencil close up of a blossom (which I mercilessly/ unintentionally smudged!), a gouache section, an art nouveau inspired watercolour/ink version, and a large ink centre.

Since I’m just trying to get back a drawing habit, and reclaim some skills, I’m not trying to make like “art”. So I’m having fun filling pages with multi-day drawings! Today’s prompt was Blackberries.

Today the prompt was fern. I feel like maybe I should go back in and add more, but also thought what if I cut it up and collaged it?!

Tried something different today. A small detailed field of cotton grass blossoms, medium cotton grass, and a large version. I kinda wish I had squished them closer together, and been less worried about losing or hiding bits. But I did accomplish the goal of rendering today’s prompt: cotton grass!
