At this time when 1940s Norwegian anti-Nazi toque patterns are being shared on Ravelry as "Melt Ice" hats, and as Pussy Hats are re-entering the discourse, allow me to share Tove Hermanson's (2012) prescient paper:

Currently Melt the Ice knitting patterns are raising money for support groups in Minneapolis. And THAT knitting pattern is inspired by Norwegian hats worn as a symbol of resistance to Nazi occupation. (Thanks to commenters for the info).

Finished my hat. Iβm very happy with how it turned out. Celtic headband first, switched to smaller needles, picked up 84 stitches along one edge, decreased in 5 places, every other row, and finished with an ichord. Going to give my other 2 Melt the ICE hats away.

A tariff βrefundβ mostly goes to whoever wrote the tariff check: the importer of record. Thatβs not the same person who paid more at the register. So refunds -- if they're offered -- might sound like consumer relief, but in reality, they're corporate windfalls.
