I have talked about Halo on like four different social media platforms and one of them is twitter. I did not expect to have bsky be the one where people are most eager to defend its honor from what I think are pretty mild and unsurprising criticisms.

Being a Halo fan is weird given... you know, Microsoft. Halo's scifi war is very much a fantasy of a "righteous" war and so much of how Halo portrays war and empire is very... you know, United States self-mythology. But I'm already in this dumpster and these clothes are already ruined...

Halo kind of knows this but unfortunately I think the marketing totally failed the actual YA novels even though they were really good! The Fall of Reach meanwhile is a precision strike on 13 year olds that gets away with it because the character gets to grow up so adults will still read it.
