#devonbookhour Reading about the music aspect is good but you do get a sense of the social history of the period which is always intersting.

I'm loving Barchester Towers after finishing a wonderful short story/novella by Kate Chopin called The Awakening (said to be one of the earliest feminist books), set in the New Orelans area during the Civil War #devonbookhour

As well as your general book news I'm curious about writers you love to rediscover. I'm reading Barchester Towers after an absence of 25 years+ from Barsetshire and I'm engrossed. Not just by the story but by Trollope's style including the way he talks directly to the reader #devonbookhour

I finished Utz by Bruce Chatwin. A strange but enjoyable novella set in Prague before and after the occupation by Russia in 1968. Was shortlisted for the Booker prize. What have you been reading? #devonbookhour
