It is a time travelling story of sorts. The main character is stuck on the 18th November. Sounds like it should be awful and yet it is an amazing philosophical and fascinating series. The last 3 volumes are only available in Danish currently ☹️

I'm listening to Narcissus and Goldmund by Herman Hesse on audiobook. Started strongly - not quite sure of the middle section, though - but it is a joy to listen to whilst ironing 😀 Anyone read it and what other audiobooks would you recommend? #devonbookhour

Love a twisty, turny thriller? Then the latest book from @GemmaRogers79 is one to look out for. Released in March, this is the 12th book by Gemma who has now sold over 650,000 books. her 13th is due out in August so watch out for that. Unlucky for some but not for us!

I've also, finally, picked up The Mirror And The LIght by Hilary Mantel - it is such a big and heavy book that it feels like I'm down the gym whilst reading - but it's a wonderful book, just as the first two in the series were. #devonbookhour

Earlier today, I finished In High Places by Devon writer @janeholland1 - a high-octane thriller set on Dartmoor, this was a real page-turner #devonbookhour

As first hand accounts of the period leading up to and thorugh The Great War begin to fade, with the passing of that generation, it is good to read a story that feels deeply rooted in that time.

A book I recently read via a local connection with the author. In 1913 Ippenbury, a silent schoolmistress hides a past no one can guess. Through war, wounded soldiers, and a deadly epidemic, her letters reveal a life of passion and buried ambition. How well do we ever truly know anyone?

#devonbookhour That was my thought too, I struggle a bit with reading poetry and prefer to listen to it. In graphic novel form it becomes a different thing.
