It’s me, Ethan Hunt, forever haunted by the death of… someone? At the hands of… someone? This trauma has shaped me for the past thirty years — except in 1996, 2000, 2006, 2011, 2015, and 2018. Those years I was fine. Otherwise, this has always been my whole thing.

More and more convinced that the labyrinthine smoke-and-mirrors approach to storytelling is now just masking an inability to do smaller and simpler things well.

My biggest complaint about Bluesky (so far) is that only 95% of my posts have gone viral whereas it was 100% on Twitter.

My most firmly-held convictions about the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE franchise are that the first one had the best score (Elfman) and the third one had the best villain (Hoffman) and the runners-up in both categories are not even close.

My love language is posting 30-year-old box-office data.

I miss the days in the ‘90s when you could walk up to the box office at the Paragon Theater and buy a ticket for THE SPITFIRE GRILL, SUBURBIA, THE RUN OF THE COUNTRY, THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT, HONEYMOON IN VEGAS, CITY SLICKERS, THE ENGLISH PATIENT or SACK LUNCH.
